I don’t think anyone knows when exactly there will be a cure.

I do know that a lot of research all over the world is going in to finding out a cure for all the different types of cancer that exist. It might not be one cure but a bunch of cures and which one we use depends on the type of cancer.

At the moment, 43% of men and 56% of women live for more than 5 years after they have been diagnosed and treated for cancer, which means they may be cured. For children the percentage that lives 5 years after diagnose is much higher: 78%. There are huge differences in survival rate between different types of cancer. When we have a cure for all, I don’t know. But I hope soon!

      Hi raj2004,

As Olivia and Leonie say, it is hard to say when the cure to all cancers will be found. However, with increasing research and public knowledge as well, we are spoting cancer earlier, treating it better and seeing more people survive.

The improvements in the last decade are phenominal, in another 10 years who knows where we will be, but is bound to be even better!

      raj2004,
There’s so many different types of cancers it’s hard to cure them all, but with newer technology comes new hope. I reckon with the right funding in the right research, personally, I think we’ll have cures for most cancers in the next 20years.

There’s so many options for cures. One I like is to use gold nanoparticles which go around the body and specifically stick to cancer cells and nothing else. We then use a laser on the body which is harmless, except it heats up the gold and destroys the cancer cell, leaving you cancer free and unharmed. It’s a treatment to cure the cancer. But to eradiacate the disease is a different story, as cancers form through random mutations it’s hard to tell who will get cancer and not, mainly you can prevent it by sensible life style choices, don’t smoke, exercise, eat healthily etc etc.
