• Question: Where does vitamin A come from?

      Hi SD1901,

      Vitamin A can be found in lots of different food, it’s in fruit and veg like carrots, lettuce and melon, and there’s lots of it in liver and fish.

      So there’s some truth in the saying that ‘carrots make you see in the dark’ because they contain loads of vitamin A. Vitamin A gets used in the eye to help the light-sensitive cells to work properly so you can see.

      Unfortunately we can’t make vitamin A ourselves so we’ve got to eat our fruit and veg!
