When I got my masters degree in physics. That’s when I became a scientist in my mind.
It felt great. I spent four years at uni, did a lot of hard work and had a lot of fun making loads of friends.
all that effort paid off and felt good and then I started my PhD which is the start of a career in science. It feels good to be researching and looking at stuff humans have never seen before and it feels nice to publish papers that other people read and agree with me. Also it’s still a fun career I work in the same building with some of my close friends so we can still have lots of fun and achieve lots of good work
Joe has reminded me of when I was heading back from home to Edinburgh before my final exams. I was reading the magazine New Scientist on the train and I remember being so scared of failing my exams that I thought it would be the last time I would read New Scientist because how could I read that if I didn’t pass my science degree!
