Because we’re men, men have different hormones than women in different amounts. There’s probably some back tracking you can do that suggests that cavemen went out hunting and needed more hair to keep warm. But nowadays it’s a thing in society, sadly there’s lots of inequality between men and women and various expectations on men and women on what we should be like and look like

      Hi Aysha,

All humans grow hair in the same places, the density of this hair does vary, but as Joe hints at, there are society conventions that men should keep their legs hairy and be proud of having hairy legs while women should shave their legs and keep them smooth. Ditto armpit hair.

It is a heritage of our evolution from primates millions of years ago, that has slowly become less relevant and so has evolved out. Similar to our end spine remains of a tail, the tail bone, which over time we have evolved from being a tail to being just a small end of our spine.

We all get leg hair, and arm hair. Even if you can’t see it it’s there. Mine is dark because I’ve got dark hair but my friends with red and blonde hair have trouble seeing their body hair.

Going through puberty changes how much of this hair you have and where it is. This is generally when girls are told they should start shaving their legs (although I’ve never understood why it’s considered ugly on girls and fine on boys so mine stays where it is) and boys start shaving their faces.
